North Carolina

Twice recently, Matt and I escaped to the mountains of NC for the weekend. The first time it was just us, and we just spent the time relaxing and enjoying the view. The second time Matt’s parents, sister and her boyfriend joined us there and we had a lot of fun playing tennis, hiking playing bocce and almost dying on a tour of the golf course!

The views are amazing.

So funny story about our hike. I have a fear of snakes. Its real and it is paralyzing. People don’t really understand how bad my fear is. I can’t even go into the reptile house at the zoo. It makes me feel incredibly anxious and tense. I won’t do it.

So the night before our hike, I told Matt that if he saw a snake he needed to just remove me from the situation, but not say anything about it. You know, like tell me to come over here (here being where the snake ISN”T)

So we successfully hike to two waterfalls. We were on our way to the last one and we get about 2 minutes into the hike and a girl walking back the other direction says “there is a snake on the left” I screamed oh expletive this expletive! and turned around and RAN back to the bridge where the start of the trail was. By the time I got to the bridge I was shaking and almost to tears. Matt’s mom came back and soon Matt came. He was not happy with that girl. I was going to just sit in the car and wait for them. But he talked me into going back. He told me that “snakes don’t want anything to do with me, they just want to be left alone” and I reminded him that those guys saw it and he said that “those redneck guys were looking for it!” So I went, crying for the first 5 mins of the hike. Staring at the ground waiting for one of those sticks to move. When it was all over I was glad I went, but it was a rough start.

I really wish I didn’t react this way, I never really thought about how I was reacting, my brain took over and I was out of there! It was a little embarrassing the way I freaked out, but luckily I was with family.

It was a great weekend with family and a lot of fun. The only thing that would have made it better is if I had been able to find boiled peanuts.

Advice from Disney Pricnesses

Natasha from Samster Mommy now Little Pink Monster shared this on her blog today. I loved it. It cracked me up and made me laugh while I was taking a break from writing a paper and stressing about grad school.

I love Disney Princesses - but these are really funny.

These also reminded me of these two pictures I have seen floating around the web.

Hope this made you smile today! :-D

Back to the paper.

Seriously. OH. MY. GOSH!!

I have been to BSB multiple times. They are always great. Never disappointed.

As a young girl I loved New Kids on the Block. Loved them. Watched the video of their concert ALL THE TIME.

When I heard they were coming to Washington D.C. I had to have tickets.

I also wanted my mom to go with me. So that is what I got for Christmas.

After a rough start to the evening ( a different blog post that WILL be coming – lets just say I am not happy with Verizon Center) my mom worked her mommy magic and we had the best night ever!

Here are some pictures of the night. Once I go through the videos I may toss a couple up here too – depending on how much you hear of my horrible, no voice left singing!

our view (after mommy magic)

excited for the start!!!

this would be during please don’t go girl… boyfriend can STILL hit the high notes!!

they brought girls on stage

not bitter, but this girl isn’t even old enough to know either group…just saying

So Happy

Can’t really tell here, but Donnie still has it. Seriously. Shew

HAHA – all the screaming was getting to her – cough cough she is old cough cough Open-mouthed smile

Hot, sweaty and having a blast

Best concert I have ever been to. EVER.

I must say, my expectations were blown away. I heard them on new years eve, and I was a little worried they wouldn’t sound good. Well. That just isn’t the case. I spend the rest of the weekend wishing I could see it again.

Best night ever. The End.

Thanks mom for braving the loud screaming WOMEN and getting us great seats!! I had a blast with you! I love you!

So much to be excited about

After you get out of school, summers really aren’t all that. You still have to go to work everyday, no 3 month break from that!

So you have to look for the little things to get excited about and look forward to.

Lately, we have been traveling short little vacations here and there, always for an event (wedding, birthday etc.) We aren’t taking a big vacation this summer.

I just started school, so I get to spend my summer with my head in the books and fingers typing papers. I am excited about this (an nervous)

But there are lots of things I am looking forward to. The first thing is TOMORROW!!

That is right!!! When I was little I LOVED NKOTB! I had the videos and watched them all the time! I had the lunch box and nightshirt and more!

I have seen BSB in concert 4 times since my sophomore year so this is a combo I can get SUPER excited about!

I heard they were coming to DC and called my dad and told him I wanted tickets for Christmas, and I wanted my mom to go with me! So that is what is happening tomorrow. SCORE!

I am also excited for July when I get to go see Keith Urban. A valentines day/ anniversary gift from my love! I love concerts!

I am also excited for some summer weddings that are coming up. One next weekend and one at the end of summer (which I am in!)

There are a bunch of movies this summer that are on my radar, but two I am most excited about.

I am super excited about Harry Potter 7 part 2. Even if it there is a lot of snake action in the movie! I have loved the HP series and I am sad to see it come to an end

I adore Cars, so I am just as excited for Cars 2!

Disney Pixar Cars 2

Mostly, I am excited that I have found a cheap pool near my apartment that I can spend Saturdays at. If I am going to spend my weekends reading textbooks I may as well get some tanning action out of it!!
